Erin Farrell Talbot has over 20 years of public relations experience with firms ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Having held key roles in corporate communications departments and public relations agencies, she has developed keen insights and perspectives as a communications and media relations strategist.
During her career, Farrell Talbot has implemented multifaceted campaigns for clients in the technology, consumer, enterprise, corporate, public affairs, and sports marketing sectors, each with a focus on delivering a strong voice and clear vision to stakeholders. She continues to implement programs that address these needs for clients all over the world. She has a keen understanding of what makes a good news story, and how to implement communications programs that will resonate.
She has been a freelance consultant for several years working with companies of various sizes to implement strategic executive communications programs, corporate and trade media initiatives, crisis communications plans, sales and partner conference presentations, messaging and social media campaigns.
She has achieved results for clients across media disciplines, including Bloomberg TV, Barron’s, Crain’s, CNBC, CNN, eWeek, Investor’s Business Daily, Managing Automation, Mobile Marketer, New York Times, Network World, Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, Motley Fool, USA Today, and New York Post.
Farrell Talbot has held roles at some of the most prestigious PR firms in the world, including Edelman, Weber Shandwick Worldwide, Porter Novelli and Text 100, as well as some smaller boutique agencies, which help startup companies in various stages of funding.
In the course of her tenure, Farrell Talbot has lived in five different cities: Boston, San Francisco, New York and opened new agency offices in Houston and Atlanta. She has specialized in leading teams for bluechip clients such as Avaya, CA, Canon, Compaq, HP, IBM, iRobot, NCR, Kodak and TIBCO.
Before starting Farrell Talbot Consulting, she was a senior vice president at Edelman. Farrell Talbot also spent several years as the senior director of worldwide corporate communications at Symbol Technologies, now a division of Motorola. While at Symbol, she helped the company navigate its way through an SEC settlement and several thorny litigation issues; built a platform, brand, and reputation for the CEO; hired and created a focused communications team; implemented communications results measurement tools; conducted a worldwide agency search; and led the company through two acquisitions and a corporate restructuring.
Farrell Talbot began her career working for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) as a publicist and media relations manager. A former journalist and freelance magazine writer, she got her start in public relations in the early 1990's at Cabletron Systems.
A New England native, Farrell Talbot graduated with an English journalism degree from the University of New Hampshire. She is also a Six Sigma Black Belt, and has completed several projects focused on improving communications programs using the tools and methodologies.
Farrell Talbot lives in New York City with her husband and two sons. She is a marathoner and triathlete, and has raised thousands of dollars for cancer research. She has published two children’s book with AuthorHouse. Both books are dedicated to her sons -- “Liam’s Window.” and "Owen's City Sounds."
